Four months after the events of Peter’s explosion, we find the heroes at different places in their lives. Claire, HRG and family try to stay below the radar in their new town, but a classmate of Claire’s with some powers of his own knows there’s something different about her. Matt Parkman and Mohinder Suresh are now guardians of Molly Parker, who has been suffering from horrible nightmares about the man who is more evil than Sylar. Mohinder and HRG are still trying to take the company down. Kaito Nakamura and Angela Petrelli receive ominous notices of their impending deaths, clearly sent by one of “the elders”. Nathan has pushed his family away and is in a very dark place, feeling that Peter has survived and is alive somewhere. In Ireland, we find Peter Petrelli is alive, but doesn’t remember who he is. Maya and Alejandro, two new characters, are wanted for murder due to her accidentally killing multiple people because of her ability to host a plague.

Hiro may ruin the time-line when he gives in to temptation and kisses Yaeko only to learn that Takezo Kensei was watching them. HRG man and the Haitian visit an old colleague from the Company in an attempt to locate Isaac Mendez’s last paintings. They show that they are more than ready to use violence to get what they want.

Jack returns to the caves and gives hope to the other survivors. Kate descends in the shelter and vanishes, and Locke tries to find her when she is captured. Jack comes back to the shelter trying to find Kate and Locke and finds a familiar face: Desmond.

Season 2 Episode 2: Adrift

Michael is drowning and Sawyer saves him, while Jin is missing. Michael recalls his fight against Susan for Walt in the justice and the reasons for Michael’s desperate obsession for his son. They drift on a wreckage of the raft, with the menace of a shark. Michael blames Sawyer for the abduction of Walt and promises to bring his son back. Meanwhile, Kate releases herself from Desmond’s captivity and escapes through a ventilation duct, while Locke tries asking Desmond questions about the underground facility they are in and about the use of the mysterious numbers. Season 2 Episode 3: Orientation

Sawyer, Michael and Jin are captured by “The Others” and Ana Lucia is arrested with them. Locke recalls his rehabilitation with a support group, where he met and had an affair with Helen. However, although with the support of Helen, he was not able to get free from the figure of his cynical, con-artist father. Meanwhile, Kate hits Desmonds and accidentally shoots the computer. While trying to fix the apparatus, Desmond gives a film to Jack and Locke solving partially the mystery of the place. Desmond recognizes Jack from the brief encounter he had with him, but provokes a short circuit in the electric installation. Kate is forced to ask Sayid and Hurley to help in the bunker to repair the computer before the 108 minute countdown is up.

Season 2 Episode 4: Everybody Hates Hugo

Jack assigns Hurley to make an inventory of the food, and he brings Rose to the shelter to help him. More of Hurley’s background story is the day when he won the lottery, he quited his job, and disappointed his best friend Johnny. Meanwhile, Sayid and Jack explore the underground shelter trying to find the source of the unstable electromagnetic field. Locke tells Charlie the secret about the shelter. Jin, Sawyer and Michael find that the group that arrested them leaded by Ana Lucia was in the flight 815, and they were twenty three when they crashed the island. Claire finds the bottle with the messages on the beach which confirms to her the loss of the raft.

Season 2 Episode 5: …And Found

A desperate and growingly insane Michael sets off into the jungle by himself determined to find Walt, but discovers that he is not alone. But they are delayed when Jin and the hulking Mr. Eko are forced to go into the jungle to look for Michael before the dreaded “others” find him first. Back at the beach camp, Sun frantically searches for her missing wedding ring which triggers flashbacks to Sun and Jin’s past showing how they met for the first time in early 1990s Seoul, when Jin was working as a doorman of a fancy hotel where Sun was staying at for a courtship engagement set up by her mother.

Season 2, Episode 6: Abandoned

Sayid builds a tent for Shannon, and she sees Walt again speaking some unintelligible words (see IDMb Trivia). Sayid does not believe her. Shannon recalls the death of her father years earlier leading to a reunion with her estranged half-brother Boone, and how her stepmother deserted her. She uses Walt’s dog, Vincent, trying to find Walt in the woods and proves that she is worthy. Meanwhile, the tail crash survivors, Ana-Lucia, Mr. Eko, Bernard, Libby, and Cindy force Michael, Sawyer and Jin to take them to their camp on the other side of the island. During the long hike through the jungle, Sawyer passes out due to his gunshot wound, delaying the expedition. Cindy vanishes, the rest of the group feel that “The Others” are close. The tense situation leads to a tragedy.

Season 2 Episode 7: The Other 48 Days

The tail section of the airplane crashes in the ocean, and the 23 survivors reach the beach. They are led by the tough-minded Ana Lucia, the heroic Goodwin, the hulking West African Mr. Eko, as well as Bernard, Libby, and flight attendant Cindy. On the first night, they are attacked by “The Others” while sleeping at the beach and some of them are abducted, including two children. But Ana Lucia and Mr. Eko manage to fight them off, killing three of them. Further inspection show the others (two men and a woman) are barefoot, scruffy, people with near-super human strength and speed with the intelligence of genius’s. Ana Lucia suspects that Nathan is one of the “others” who as infiltrated in the group and a few days later, she finds the truth but not before Nathan is killed. After 42 days, the five remaining tail crash survivors meet Jin, Michael, and Sawyer for the first time, leading to the events on Day 48 where they meet Shannon and Sayid in a tragic way.

Season 2 Episode 8: Collision

In the aftermath of the killing of Shannon, Ana Lucia takes the pistol from Sayid and ties him to a tree. Completely deranged, she threatens the whole group, and later she releases Michael demanding guns and ammunition for Sayid. Mr. Eko takes the unconscious Sawyer back to Jack at the hatch bunker, who tries to save him with Kate’s help. Meanwhile, Ana Lucia recalls her past in the police force… in the months after she was shot by a scum thief. In the mist of all this, the other survivors, Jin, Bernard, and Libby, decide to leave Ana Lucia behind and move to meet the other group for a joyful reunion.

Season 2 Episode 9: What Kate Did

As dawn ushers in another day on the island we see Jin and Sun sharing an intimate moment that is long overdue. Meanwhile, Kate is up in a tree picking fruit from the tall branches. As she slides back down the trunk, she slips, almost falling and spilling several mangoes to the jungle floor. As she crouches to collect them, she hears something behind her and turns to see a magnificent black horse standing in the morning mist. In a flashback, a young Kate waits on the stairs of her modest house when a pickup truck swerves down the dirt road and stops in front we get our first look at her stepfather and her mother’s choice for a father: Wayne. He’s happy to let Kate help him to bed, as long as it affords him another chance to lay his drunken hands on her. So when Kate tells him goodnight, she really means it. We see her go outside and ride off on her motorcycle as the house behind her explodes into a giant fireball. In the hatch, Sawyer is still delirious with fever as a result of his blood infection. As Jack checks his wounds Sawyer calls out for Kate. When Jack leans in a little closer he hears Sawyer say something that makes him a little dizzy himself. “I love her.” And before he has time to process what that means, there is Kate herself anxious to take over his care once more. Jack attends the funeral services for Shannon and it’s very difficult for everyone involved to keep a dry eye as Sayid says a final goodbye to the woman he loved. Back in the hatch, Kate has a very scary episode with Sawyer that shakes her to her core, so when Locke and Jack finally return to the hatch they find Sawyer unattended and the clock on the computer dangerously close to zero. Back in FLASHBACK, we get to see the beginning of Kate’s “relationship” with the Marshal when he arrests her at the bus station after trying to flee the area. While transporting her back to Iowa, in the thick of a brutal rainstorm, they swerve off the road and crash into a telephone pole, allowing Kate her first chance at escape. After pushing the unconscious Marshal out into the rain, Kate looks to see what it was that forced them off the road. And standing there, in the middle of the road, just as placid as can be, is a very familiar-looking black horse. On the island, as Kate struggles with her feelings for Jack and Sawyer as well as with her sanity, Eko provides Locke with the missing piece of a puzzle that may ask more questions than it answers. Jack reaches out to Ana Lucia at a time when she needs a friend more than ever, and Michael discovers something new about the computer that just might hold the key to getting back his son.

Season 2 Episode 10: The 23rd Psalm

When Claire comments to Mr. Eko about the Virgin Mary statue which belongs to Charlie, he asks to see it, breaks it open, and exposes Charlie’s secret to Claire. Mr. Eko makes Charlie show him the place where he found the crashed plane, while his past in Nigeria is presented in flashback. John Locke teaches Michael how to shoot a rifle, and Michael uses the computer to contact someone he believes to be Walt. Claire does not want Charlie to live close to her and her son any longer.

Season 2 Episode 11: The Hunting Party

The deranged Michael locks Jack and Locke in the ammunition storage room and leaves the shelter to go looking for Walt. Sawyer joins to Jack and Locke in an expedition to find Michael, but Jack asks Kate to stay with the computer at the hatch. While hiking in the jungle, Jack remembers the death of a patient, his comforting of the patient’s daughter Gabriela, and how Sarah left him because work was always taking him away from the house, and her. The group is surrounded by “The Others” where their emissary, known as “Mr. Friendly” tells them that they must return to their beach camp without their guns, otherwise Kate, whom the others now have captive, will be executed before them. Meanwhile at the hatch, Hurley and Charlie pass the time playing old records, while Sun argues with Jin about wanting to help out Jack and the rest of the search party.

Season 2 Episode 14: One of Them

Season 2 Episode 15: Maternity Leave

When Claire’s baby is feverish and with allergy, the French woman Danielle Rousseau comes to the camp and tells her that the baby may be infected with a mysterious virus. Claire partially recalls her period living among The Others of her being drugged and dealing with the charming Ethan Rom, the “Others” leader Mr. Friendly, and of a mysterious teenage girl who helped her escape, and who may have been Rousseau’s long-lost daughter. Claire asks Kate to go with her to the woods to look for Rousseau. While in the forest, Claire recovers her memory and the experience she was submitted, and she tries to find a vaccine for the baby’s condition. Season 2 Episode 16: The Whole Truth

Season 2 Episode 17: Lockdown

While alone in the hatch with Henry Gale, all the openings shutdown and John Locke becomes trapped in a room with him. He releases Henry to help him to open the hydraulic door, and he supports it with a tool box. When John tries to passes below the door, the box collapses and his legs are secured by the guillotine door. Locke recalls his former relationship with Helen and how his estranged con-artist father Anthony Cooper, returned to ask Locke for a favor. In the mist of all this, Henry tries to reach the computer through the ventilation duct. Meanwhile, Jack faces off against Sawyer in a card game on the beach over some food supplies. Season 2 Episode 18: Dave

In this episode Hurley is the main focus of the flashbacks. We find out that he is very insecure of his weight because years earlier he stepped on to a deck that collapsed with 23 people on it, killing two… one of them being his father. After this incident he suffered a mental breakdown and becomes catatonic and his mother checked him into a psyche ward. On the island, Hurley is suffering for his “sickness” which is his over indulgence in food. He has set up a stash of food in a hidden location. With the help of Libby he destroys the stash, only to be deterred by the new supplies that have landed on the beach from a transport plane. He then begins to start seeing this man that is in a bath robe that Hurley recognizes. In the flashbacks to the psyche ward, we find out that Hurley had this friend Dave that was incarcerated with him. This turns out to be the same guy that Hurley is seeing on the island. Through a doctor patient conversation Hurley is told that he is imagining his friend Dave, and that Dave is the self-destructive part of his mind, always telling him to eat and never lose weight. On the island, Hurley asks Sawyer for some medicine that will help him control his hallucinations. But naturally, the mean-spirited Sawyer refuses and makes fun of him prompting Hurley to beat Sawyer up. Hurley packs camp up and moves to the caves. On his way out he meets Dave again and Dave tells him that everything he is seeing is in his head. He tells Hurley that he is in a self induced coma still in the psyche ward. Dave then says that he has to jump off a cliff to wake up. Hurley stands on the cliff contemplating suicide so that he can wake up, when Libby comes out and tells him that he is sane and that everything has happened. This leads to Libby and Hurley kissing and everything is fine. Then in a flashback we see Hurley acting all happy in the psyche ward, while Libby is across the room a mental patient herself mumbling words to herself. This is where Hurley has seen her before.

Season 2 Episode 19: S.O.S.

Bernard tries to convince the survivors to build a S.O.S. signal with rocks on the sand, hoping to be seen by a satellite or an airplane. His first encounter with Rose, who was terminal, and their romance, are disclosed through flashbacks. Bernard never gives up searching for the cure of Rose before crashing the island. Meanwhile, Jack invites Kate to join him in the woods to propose to “The Others” a trade between Henry and Walt. John Locke is intrigued with the words of Henry about the unnecessary use of the computer. Is Henry playing him for a fool? Elsewhere, Charlie assists Mr. Eko in building a proposed church for the rest of the survivors.

Season 2 Episode 20: Two for the Road

Jake and Kate find an exhausted Michael in the jungle and bring him back to the hatch for dehydration and medical treatment. Henry tries to kill Ana Lucia, but she is saved by John Locke in the last moment. Ana Lucia tries to convince Sawyer to give a weapon to her for killing Henry, and she has sex with him. She recalls her troubled relationship with her mother leading to the end of her career in the L.A. police force and her short connection with Jake’s father Dr. Christian Shephard, who took her to Australia for his own agenda. Meanwhile, Hurley invites Libby for a picnic in a secret spot. When Ana Lucia is unable to shoot Henry, Michael offers himself for the assignment… but instead executes her in a stunning betrayal.

Season 2 Episode 21: ?

While sleeping, Mr. Eko is assigned by his brother Yemi (Adetokumboh McCormack) in a dream to go with John Locke to disclose the meaning of the “?” symbol, which Locke previous saw painted on a blast door in the bunker. With the pretext of chasing the escaped Henry, Mr. Eko brings Locke with him and they find a second hatch near the Beechwood crash site, called Station 5, co-named “Pearl” part of the Dharma Insitive in a vast underground bunker with the question mark symbol marked on the field, where a video explains that the other hatch is a psychological experiment and people behavior pressing the buttons of the computer every 108 minutes are actually subjects. More of Mr. Eko’s background story shows him as a priest at a mission in Australia where he is sent to investigate a possible resurrection miracle, where the little girl gives him a message from his late brother during her near-death state. Meanwhile, Jack unsuccessfully tries to save Libby after she is fatally shot during the escape of Henry, all of them unaware that the murderous, but guilt-ridden Michael was the one responsible.

Season 2 Episode 22: Three Minutes

Michael requests Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley to go with him to the camp site of “The Others” to bring Walt back. Meanwhile, his experience and captivity during the last 13 days with “The Others” is disclosed, when he saw Walt and made a deal with their leader “Mr. Friendly”, and the matron base camp leader “Ms. Clue” to return to his camp, release Henry, and betray Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley by leading them to their camp. Now completely insane and desperate to be reunited with his son at any cost, Michael willingly agrees to betray his friends. Michael is welcomed back by the survivors, but Sayid advises Jack that he strongly suspects that Michael is a traitor. After the burial of Ana Lucia and Libby, the survivors see a boat sailing near the beach.

Season 2 Episode 23: Live Together, Die Alone

Desmond returns and we delve into his own mysterious past. We learn how he came to be shipwrecked on the island three years earlier and live inside the Hatch, and of a connection he has to another of the survivors: the man who found him and taught him for three years how to operate the computer systems is Kelvin Inman who was Sayid’s handler during the Gulf War. Meanwhile, Michael leads Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley into the jungle to the Others camp to rescue Walt, while Sayid, Sun and Jin sail around the island in Desmond’s sailboat to assist them knowing that Michael will betray them. At the hatch, Locke and Desmond seal off the complex with the intent not to push the button just to see what really happens, while Mr. Eko and Charlie try to pry apart the blast doors before something disastrous happens.
